Why Do I Need a Legal DNA Test?
Divorce
Not every divorce requires a paternity test, but they are common in cases with children and a history of infidelity.
Child Support Disputes
Occasionally, a child’s parentage may get called into question during a child support dispute. A DNA test will clarify everything.
Immigration
If you or your child were born to US parents outside of the United States, you’d need a paternity test to get your citizenship or immigration approved.
Adoption
If an adopted child wants to meet their biological parents, some do. DNA testing can accurately determine if the two are biologically related.
Estates & Wills
Occasionally when an inheritance is at stake, children and other blood relatives will stake their claim, and a DNA test can confirm they are related to the deceased.
Court Orders
The Texas Attorney General’s office will occasionally order individuals to undergo DNA testing, and DATCS offers a testing service that’s admissible in court proceedings.
Taxes
If your name isn’t on the birth certificate of a child you claim as a dependent, you may need to provide a legally-admissible DNA test to prove parentage.
And More
There are a number of reasons you may need a legal DNA or paternity test, and DATCS is here to provide you with legally-admissible DNA testing in Longview, TX.
Getting Tested At Our DNA Testing Center in Longview, TX
We’re a walk-in DNA testing facility north of Longview on Highway 259. When you report to our facility for testing, you should expect the whole procedure to take about an hour.
For a legal test, we’ll need to test the father, mother, and child. Not everyone needs to report to the testing facility at the same time, though.
We perform the test with a simple, non-invasive mouth swab. However, participants must not have eaten within 2 hours prior to the swab.
After we collect the samples, we check IDs and other documents, take a picture of the test subject, and otherwise confirm the sample. Participants are free to leave after that has been completed.
Test results should be available within 3-7 working days. All results are completely confidential, and only individuals listed on the release paperwork will receive the results.
