 2.  BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL WHEN IT COMES TO DRINKING, TAKING MEDICINE & HANDLING STRESS Research shows that when it comes to alcohol and other drugs, children are likely to model their parents’ behaviors—both healthy and unhealthy ones. A parent’s attitude about drugs and alcohol can influence their children’s behavior.  Here are three ways you can be a good role model. Do not become intoxicated in front of your children. Do not save prescription medications to be used later without a doctor’s consent and do not share your medications with others (that is a criminal offense). Do not use alcohol as a coping mechanism or to relieve stress.  (Example: Saying to your kids, “I had a rough day – I need a few beers or a joint to relax.”)   This and other information is available at:

What is DNA Testing For? Typical reasons for DNA testing in Texas involve parentage as often as not. Texas Drug Test News

DATCS offers Texas drug tests for a variety of reasons, including employee drug testing. We help businesses keep their work environment safe and productive, and if an employee fails a drug test, we can assist them in finding help to overcome their drug problem. A recently-passed Texas bill is aimed to help welfare recipients have that same sobriety, accountability, and drug abuse help when necessary.   This April, the Texas state Senate passed a bill that will require some welfare applicants to undergo drug testing to be eligible for benefits. After completing a screening assessment, applicants who are considered to be at a high risk of drug use (for example, those with previous felony drug convictions, previous failed drug tests, etc.) will be required to take a drug test before collecting benefits.   Applicants who test positive for drugs will not be allowed to collect benefits for twelve months. Fish Tales and DNA Testing Texas

Normally when you think of DNA testing, the first things that come to mind are probably paternity testing, criminal investigations, etc. Chances are, you, like most people, probably don’t often equate DNA testing with non-human beings. Well, recently Texas DNA testing helped identify–of all things–the paternity of a fish! Yes, you read that correctly: a fish paternity test. It all started in December of 2004 when Texas fisherman Jerry Campos caught a monstrous 14 pound largemouth bass at Lake Falcon in Laredo. Campos dubbed the bass “ShareLunker 370,” and then donated it to Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens as part of their ShareLunker program for spawning purposes. Recently, Allen Lane Kruse caught a big bass and set a water-body and catch-and-release record for Lake Naconiche. Texas DNA testing has determined that Kruse’s catch (weighing in at a hefty 12.5 pounds) is in fact the son of ShareLunker 370, the original...
